Electrical Problems

Ok so here is the problem couple of weeks ago my speedo started acting crazy would come on a shut down, also when you turn on the key headlight comes on but no running lights and the ehc no lights at all hit the brake lever only my right side brake lights up still no running lights. Hit he run button the light on the ehc lights up and it fires right up and runs fine. after a little riding the speedo and my running lights come on for the most part stay on every once in awhile it will cycle and shut down then come right back on. If i shut it down and turn off key and turn it back on all the lights work 8 out of 10 times. evan the other brake light. let it sit then back to just headlight.
Thanks for any help on what else to try , Question should any lights come on the ehc when you turn on the key ? or is that just if there is a fault ?

New Dakota Digital Speedo
Checked the left rear brake wire for short

in the years that you have owned it, have you taken the opportunity to seal all the wire connections with dielectric grease and shrink wrap them. could be that you have some corrosion going on in the pins. could be the EHC itself. may be headaches ahead to go ahead and do the wire plus. MHO

Ya I have done all that when I took the bike apart and sent my stuff to ed to get painted, now something else weird happened went out turned on key just headlight came on, go look at my book turn around everything is on running lights speedo tag light but I hit brake lever and still no left turn signal or brake light so think I will check on that some more got to be a short in that right ?

So far what I noticed turn on key only headlight comes on let it sit like that for a minute and it all comes on. The power light to the ehc comes on, speedo running lights tag light and now both break lights. You can cycle the key on and off and every time everything comes right back on until you let it sit off for awhile then you only get head light so I'm stumped ?
