FSD Exhausts (Frankie Serrano Designs)

I've been slowly customizing my K9 for the past two years, and always find great ideas on this forum. My dog came to me with V&H 2x2 exhaust and that was fine for a while; but I always knew that eventually I'd want to go a different direction. First off, the V&Hs are pretty common and I wanted to be different. Second, I wanted something LOUDER. Well, a while ago, I saw a photo of a K9 with an FSD Sinful exhaust. To my eye, it's the perfect exhaust for this bike, and from reading this forum, I knew it was loud. So I kept researching. Unfortunately, FSD does not exactly have an unblemished record online. Apparently, in years past they had backlog issues, overcommitted, and some guys got pretty pissed. (And rightfully so.) And damn the Sinfuls are NOT cheap, either. But there were some more recent positive testimonials too. So I called Frankie and talked to him a couple times. Talked about my bike... he said it would be a perfect fit. Talked about price... he offered a $75 discount to me as a member of this forum. Talked about lead time... he said the pipes were in stock and only had to be chromed; estimated they could ship in 2 weeks or so. So, I took the plunge.
Placed my order on March 11th. Well, it turns out there was a slight delay at the plater's; however, I did receive my pipes on April 10th. Less than a month lead time... not too bad.
My first impression was @#%$ these pipes are beautiful! Got them mounted up the next evening without any problems. I did use three exhaust gaskets on the back (short) pipe in order to get clearance from the sprocket cover. Man, they look great... and sound even better. With my old V&H pipes, the idle was 82 decibels loud. With the new FSDs, the idle is now at 92 decibels. And the sound is noticeably deeper and throatier. I'm happy.

So, I want to give a shout out to FSD Exhausts. :2thumbs: My experience with this order and their product has been positive so far.

Think the sinful pipes look the best I've seen too. Keep us updated on the quality and if you have any trouble with blueing. Good luck

Franco, Sorry. Typing faster than my brain can go. Not the primary... the sprocket cover. Now I have about 1/8" clearance... so it's pretty close. But they seem rock solid.

Willy,
I have them on my BBC Sled, I love the pipes but have experienced quite a bit of decel pop on deaccleration. Not sure if you have on yours but I like the idea of adding another gasket on the rear pipe as the pipes mount very close to the clutch accuator.

Pauldeepsea, Yeah you and I have communicated about them before. You were part of my "research". Thanks again. Yes, I do have some decel pops. May need some carb adjustment. Will figure it out.

These are great pipes - I have had them for 2 years no discoloration or anything, the heat shields are great. The chromer he uses is top notch.

I'm glad you got them in a month, it took me if I recall about 4-5 months, that was back before he built his new shop and he stated he was making these all himself. I think now he has guys hammering them out more often.

Now decel pop will always be there regardless of your carb adjustment. Short pipes will do that.

I would be curious out of the guys running these if their rear cylinder runs leaner than the front. I noticed my plug on the rear head is much whiter than the front, and I believe it due to 2 things:
1. Heat
2. Significantly Shorter Pipe on the Rear than the front.

Yes my plugs burn different, I had a leak and had to re adjust the pipes. I am still working on this issue and making adjustments.

I am going to add to this post as well.

Long story short, I had what I consider to have had a bad experience with FSD about 4 years ago. After 2 years of frustration I posted a "be cautious" post when another forum member expressed interest in FSD. Well Frankie contacted me immediately about my issue's. Asked me to ship the old pipes back and said he would ship a brand new set of Sinfulls. Figuring I had nothing to lose cause the old pipes were useless I sent them back. 1 week later I was installing the pipes that Frankie promised. They look and sound great.

The bigger picture is that Frankie did exactly what he said he was going to do. He made things right by me.

I was wondering if the exhaust comes out where you put your feet down when your at a stop? I really really like them but that was my only concern.

Excuse my ignorance in this subject but I would like to know.... Is there a way to install BCT Baffles in these pipes?
Good question Franco because although looking sweet these pipes not being the same length is a big no no performance wise. I understand for many it's about looks however you want your scoot running half ways decent.

The thunder monster baffles could be placed in different locations to help alleviate the shorter pipe issues. Frankly I'm shocked that a pipe manufacturer would fabricate a set of pipes of different length. Again I understand some go for looks jmo.

I am 6' 4" and have my forward controls extended 5". I have no problem with foot placement. But I can see where a shorter rider could.

Franco, I would just put the washer baffle in them. That's what I have in my BBC pipes and it works great and I don't have decell popping with these short pipes.

I just hate that decel pop. The thunder baffles also have a smaller diameter pipe too so just a washer may not do it.

Haven't got to run her much since the mods but a couple washers went into mine as well......

Way cool, and not only do they fry your right ankle ...but they WILL blow the leaves off your yard doing a drive by!
Fella I got them from said the cones didn't help much either.
