gas tank removal

How do you get the grommet bracket off the bottom of the gas tank... 2008 Mastiff?? I have a gas cap that won't stop leaking now I need paint work and cant get the tank off.:bang:

Remove bolts. Use socket extension in center square hole to turn bracket forty five degrees.

If I remember correctly, one of the bolts is just loosened and the other ( rear I think) is removed.

Dawgboy has it right. Then the tank will slide back towards the seat to come off the rear grommet.

Okay, I dug out my manual this morning. Remove the rear bolt. Loosen the other bolt and using a 3/8 rachet with short extension roate the bracket. Slide the tank FORWARD. I place a towel in front of the tank before sliding forward to protect it if it gets away from you. Also, the rubber bushings on the bracket will come off so take note of the orientation so you can replace them if needed. The tips are bevelled asymetrically.

Don't forget about that cross-over tube...
