Gas Tank Removal

Ok, I give -- I followed the service manual to remove the tank from my 07 Mastiff so I can waterproof the wiring. Per the instructions I removed the rear 3/8" x 7/8" bolt and loosened the front 3/8" bolt. Next using a 3/8" ratchet and short extension placed where the rear bolt comes out your suppose to be able to remove the tank bracket held in by rubber mounts. I have tried just about everything and the dam thing won't budge. Anyone run into this or have a better way?

Duh ... used a 1/2" wrench and it worked just fine - just needed some leverage. Time to shrink-wrap the wires, re-route the crankcase breathers, new SS lines, conformal coat the handle bar switches, lube everything up and I am a riding! .. plus conformal coat the Speedo (got a nice new one from the ohmester).

Anytime, I got plenty of extra stuff so no problem. I also have special lube for controls and more.

Conformal coating is what they apply to the back of circuit boards to prevent shorts -- it is a clear coating that water proofs circuits. I piked up the TechSpray based on Gasman's input and its good stuff. The tach ring in the speedo is exposed as is the hand controls, signal lights and more.

You can see the tach ring has lots of exposed contacts -- not good in our High Humidity.

Here is it all sealed up --- send me a pm with contact info and I 'll give you directions.

I used heat shrink tubing and after applying dielectic grease to the contacts I sealed every connector on the bike. I am ready to go swimming with my dog!

Good job slow!! Remember it was originally Jake's idea on the tech spray and Alhalls on the shrink wrap. I just put in the time to take the pics on everything...

Did you get the connectors on the right side of the battery tray... there are a couple over there...
