I just bought a used Big Dog Pit Bull, a 2000 model. I have had an issue ever since I bought it, with only the right side tank opening. I could not get the left side tank open for anything. So I was having to rely on the fill tube, to take the gas over to the left side.
We finally got the left side tank cap off and it had a substance all around the take top, that was gunky. and crusty... I looked in the tank and the tank didn't have any of this gunk in there and the fuel valve could be seen clearly in the tank.
I am not sure what the gunky/ crusty stuff was, unless the previous owner, only filled from the right side and that was just build up??
Also, I have experienced a really strong gas odor, in my garage, ever since bringing this bike home. I have had to put a towl on the floor to catch gas that has come out of the bike, so I am not sure why this would be coming out and if it is coming out of an over flow valve? maybe?
I am new to the chopper scene and have normally only owned cruisers. I still have my cruiser, but got this as an additional bike.
Thanks for any help ....
