Help with ECH Yellos Power up light on

This is shop manual information-

The Yellow POWER_UP led is an indication of open/short or low current draw condition in the power-up circuit.

The RED air-ride led is an indication of open/short condition as well but may be caused by the low current draw condition.

This may be caused by poor battery condition, corroded battery terminals, loose wire crimps on the RING-TONGUE wire connectors at the battery terminals OR harness connections at the EHC box.

My crimps were loose and the EHC went nuts, would cause different problems and kill the engine.

Or the EHC is going bad.

Sorry Wrong EHC diagram

Ok My Fault. I have a 18 light EHC and I was looking at the 14.

The light that is on is the Ignition Light. The manual says it Indicates an OPEN/Short Condition in the Ignition Circuit.

The bike starts and runs fine. If there was a short shouldn't I be having start problems? Is it telling me I am GOING to have problems?

Any experts out there have a systematic way of going about finding the problem.

Thanks guys

I don't have my manual in front of me but my 08 did the same, but ran fine. i emailed Big Dog and they told me that it was supposed to be that way and if there was a problem the light would not be on. Mine has been like that since 08 and no probs. supposedly its for that one circuit only. :2thumbs:

Maybe to ease the mind i got my manual and a copy of my note to BD

My note to BD was:

I have a 08 Ridgeback with 900 miles. Everything works fine on the bike but I noticed when I started the bike with the seat off the red LED on the EHC for the igntion was lite up. I have a service manual and it states that the light indicates a "open / short condition in the ignition circuit" It comes on when I press the run button and will flutter slighty when the bike is running. Is this normal or do I have a short in the system?

BD's response:

That is a normal condition. The EHC does indeed indicate a short or open by lighting an LED for a particular circuit but in the case of the ignition circuit it was best that we had it light to indicate power to it and then flicker to show if the bike was getting a firing trigger. This is so you can partially diagnose a running issue.

Kind regards
