How many miles are you getting on a tank of fuel.

I just recently bought a BD chopper with a 117 engine. I reset the trip odometer the first time I filled it up. I would like to know when I’m gonna run outta gas before I run outta gas.

general rule of thumb is to refill around 100 just to take a break. if the motor is in stock trim, without a cam change, depending on your riding habits, you should get between 120 and 140 til reserve. but don't count on reserve getting you very far. some only get maybe 5 miles on reserve and some get more/less.

Adam, I go about 100 miles and then fill-up. A lot has to do what kind of riding you are doing and how much you get on it. I will tell you if you go on to reserve you better be close to a station as I ran out after about 10 miles on reserve. I have gotten around 125 miles on a trip/tank. Hope this helps. Don't stretch it it is along way to push the bike.

Mine can run around town for about 120 miles prior to reserve depending on my riding style. Fill up at 100 miles around town. On the highway, I can go 150 miles at a steady 75 mph and then it’s time for a fill up and break.

Mechanic says carb is not tuned rich.
I have an e-carb which I understand S&S intended for <=100ci engines so I'm getting a G-carb with a matching intake manifold that won't have the restrictors that my (05) currently has on it.
I don't expect a larger diameter carb to improve miles per tank so also getting new plugs.
At <10k miles in total I wouldn't expect the plugs to be bad but it is a 15 year old bike so it can't hurt.
There must be something else, maybe I'm spending too much time idling in DC trafffic

Part of the problem is that you just got this bike. When you first get one of these bikes, they are amazing, and it's hard to stay out of the throttle. Once you've had it for a while, your fuel mileage should improve.

Also, I forgot to mention, the choppers have a 3.8 gallon tank. K9's and ridgebacks '06 and newer have a 4.4 gallon tank, so your fuel mileage is probably about the same as everyone else.
