I went to tighten the little screw on the oil pressure switch right at the engine and i broke the plastic housing. it was pretty dry rotted. first off, this should indanger my bike by not having this switch attached right? and secondly has anyone had to change out this item before? what parts do i need? where can i get em' and what precautions do i need to take before i unscrew the switch from the engine? thanks in advance, I brag about this forum constantly cause you guys are all so smart and quick to help.

You can take it to the local parts store and get a generic one. That is what I did when mine basically did the same thing. I think I paid like $10 for 5 psi NC pressure switch of the right size and thread.

If you cannot find one at the local auto parts, I will look at mine later and see if I can get a p/n or other id off it.

Like FS said -- local auto parts store is the best way to go. Get a 5 psi switch and not a higher one or it'll be on all the time at hot idle....
