While on a ride today, I had quite a bit of missing out at higher RPMs. Headed home, the dog died completely. During a hot roadsite repair, I pulled the coil cover and found one of my ignition switch wires off. Thanks to a load of electrical tape, I fixed it well enough to get home. In looking at the switch (Kraus & Naimer CA4?) I can see why the wire wouldn't stay clamped in. The little part that presses down to lock down the wire has split in two. Go figure. My question - the switch has slots for two pairs. I was using 1 & 2. My question: Since #1 is basically shot, can I simply use #'s 3 & 4 instead? Or are they for some other purpose? As a follow-up, I could have hotwired it simply by bypassing the ignition switch altogether, right? Basically tape the two wires together? That was an obvious afterthought...
