I'm so confused...Scorpio alarm...Help

Ok, I read all the good and bad about Scorpio alarms and decided that I want to give it a shot, and if I really don't like it, hopefully send it back within the 14 day return period. But.... I have some concerns.

1) Scorpio does not offer a factory harness for the 03's or 04's ( I called Scorpio today, they say I don't need it ) but I read on this forum that I DO need it for all the functions to work.

2) I really would like to get the ignition/ starter kill. Will it work without the harness ?

3) If anyone has this alarm on their 03 or 04 Bulldog, where did you put everything ? I have no covers to hide it behind.

4 ) Any problems with battery drain when away for a few days, at a hotel with no real access to electric for the battery tender?

I would really like to get this installed before going to Delmarva in a couple weeks, any and all help would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks, John

Thanks Gasman for your help earlier

I have one I would sell you, I have an 04 pitbull with the starter kill. I had it installed for about 6 months and removed it. It is still in the original box. Let me know if your are interested and we can work out a price.

Had the one in my Bulldog tucked beside the battery on the right.

Thanks Paul, I'll let you know. What model do you have ? Why did you remove it ? I'm guessing that since you ride an 04, you did not use the factory harness ?

Chacha, I'm guessing that you put the MAIN UNIT beside the battery. Do you have the perimeter sensor and start disable ? If so, where did you put them ? I'm guessing that since you ride an 04, you did not use the factory harness ? ANY PROBLEMS WITH BATTERY DRAIN WHEN AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS & NO ACCESS TO BATT. TENDER ?

Right, I was talking about the main unit. The perimeter sensor I velcroed next to the Thunderheart ignition module...I never ran a start cut-out. Bike's normally on a tender, but was without one for three weeks last year for Sturgis -- no battery drain problems.

Spend the money on decreasing your comp deductible. Those things are more trouble then they are worth. My buddy had one that'd just shut his bike down. We literally ended up ripping it outta the bike on the side of the road and leaving it there. There are even lawsuits against them because its such a safety hazzard.

I ripped mine out while at Daytona one year...:D I've got it around here somewhere if the others don't pan out and your not hell bent on buying a new one...

Perimeter is great if you like to annoy a bunch of people at bike events when you forget to turn that feature off. :hi:

Disc lock and insurance provides me enough peace of mind now that the new bike smell wore off....

I do have the factory harness but I have since went to the Wire +, I would have to agree with alot of the comments about these. Its the scorpio RFI 900I perimeter sensor/engine cutoff Its been sitting in my tool box for too damn long thought about reinstalling it but since going to the wire plus really do not want to mess with the wiring. Raywood has a wiring diagram for setting it up if you want to keep the original wiring.

Thanks you all for the response, now you really got me rethinking this thing. I have a disc lock. I just wish there were something decent out there, reasonably priced, that didn't have the problems that the scorpio seems to have. I think I read on this forum that you can start these bike with a lawn tractor key! That's pretty scary. Thanks again, and any other thoughts or suggestions ( hidden toggle switch, special ignition, anything ) would be appreciated. I have good insurance, but I want to keep MY bike, if you know what i mean. John
