Leaking Fork Seals ?

Im sure someone can help me out, I have a very light coating of what I assume to be fork oil that appears just above where the upper fork telescopes into the lower. Everytime I ride I wipe the bike down and after the next ride it is back, again it is a light amount, not oozing out or running down the tube. Would this be an indicator that the seals are bad? Thanks for the help

I also cant seem to find the thread on waterproofing, can anyone link me to it. Thanks Again

A small sheen is normal. Wet, dripping is not.

Look in the how to for a thread on the fork seal replacement aka fork service and the electrical waterproofing threads... one by me for the shrink wrap and one by bdmridgeback on the tech spray stuff.

You might want to try unscrewing the fork seal covers and drying up any moisture in there. Especially if you have ridden in the rain or washed the scoot as the water can collect in there leaving a film.

I'm on my second set of forks for my 07 k9 and the current set are brand new. Both sets of forks have done what you described from the very beginning. Seems to be normal.

Semi, I get a very tiny bit of residue on my tubes after a long ride. I don't think you need to worry too much. It seems to happen on most Big Dogs I've seen.

I'm getting the same sheen on my forks but it seems to be covering about 4 inches up the tube. Is that to much travel in the forks? The consensus I seen so far seems to be about 2 inches average.

Pull the covers and give a good cleaning then if it continues you may need new seals depending on how many miles you have on your scoot. Every 10,000 is the recommended replacement.

Any slop in the fork bushings? To check grab the front brake while sitting on the bike and rock it forward. Is this normal? Mine has done this since day one.I'm sure with any movement will work on the seals or the chrome. Weepage is normal for these forks.Try to keep the seals clean because dirt can go inside the fork from outside the seal.

Thanks for the input.
I'll pull the covers and check it out. Mostly just worried I was low on fluid and getting to much travel in the forks.
Trying to get the dog in top shape for the ride to Laughlin at the end of the month.

My front seal went out on my 07 Bulldog with inverted forks and the oil went everywhere. You could wipe it off and it would just run out again. The fender brackets and front caliper stayed covered.
