LSD OD6 Seals

Getting a jump on some maintenance item and one of them was a slight trans leak I noticed early this year. I thought for sure it was the quad seal that needed replaced but after teardown I'm starting to wonder. I've downloaded the pdf breakdown from Baker but it does not indicate if there is any seal in this area. If I had to guess it looks like its leaking around the shifter arm. Keep in mind the leak never dripped on the ground I just noticed that there was always a wet ring around the lower frame tube and I've never had to add any fluid because of it. I also noticed that the shifter arm is pretty sloppy itself, is this normal? Mainshaft seems solid.

allhall88...i would have to agree with your findings looks like it's leaking around the shifting shaft...ther is a shifter seal pawl and shifter pawl bushing referenced on page 5 of the PDF....items 6 & 7... looks like a fairly easy repair...

how does the trans drive pulley feel ? grab a hold of that puppy and see if you have any side to side play....i had mine tore down this weekend to check and i have some excessive play around 0.075" side to side play....let me know what your findings are

Thanks must have missed that. My pulley is solid can't feel any movement. How about your shifter shaft? Does that have a lot of play? Or maybe that's what the item #7 is (bushing). Now do we order parts direct from them?

Once you figure out what you need for your pup, you can email me at:

I havent looked over the PDF's in a while, but I am pretty sure there are numbers assigned to the items but no discriptions. At least that is how the BDM manuals are set up. All I need is the corresponding number if no discription listed.

I will need the year, model and VIN# when I call them.

BDM is very protective of their set-up and I am only able to get parts if the bike is out of warranty.

Yours should be no problem.

Just to let you know, we have paid our dues to be a supporting business on BDB.com. Bubblehead spends a great deal of time traveling and he has not made the official announcement yet. Hopefully soon.

I only point this out since I do not want someone to think I am on here trooling for parts business. LDO is aware of who we are and I would encourage you to contact him if you have any questions about us.

He has also purchased from us.

Hope to be of help to you,

Mick
