when i first got mine, keep hearing a clinking noise so i dug into mine. i found my stator rotor teeth were almost gone so not as bad as yours. think its all from the shaft nut not being tight to specs and it wobbling around. got a new rotor from the guys at bikers dream shop in Atlanta. hope it didnt mess up anything else on yours..

i think just the rotor and stator but i really would like to see a break down on assembly to make sure nothing is missing the marks from a pipe wrench tells me there is no way it was torqued to spec. but it was tight as hell.

well why you got it apart that far, make sure you check your trans nut. both my motor shaft and trans nuts were both loose......tightened everything up and no noise....

Remove the rest of the inner primary while your at it and remove the front seal, once seal is removed check the inner bushing for any wear marks that go against the crank bearing. Replace if any wear is present, also pay attention to the shims and their placement before and after the rotor.

i think the problem could be the shims. i couldnt find any shims or spacers around the rotor. the only spacer i found was directly behind the 1 1/2 " cap nut thingy.

i would love to see some pics of the correctly assembled primary drive area, specs would also be cool.

any help is greatly appreciated.

i just got the bike a few days ago. only put around 55 miles on it during the ride home. i noticed a slight ticking noise from the primary case. i knew i had a charging problem. i checked the stator and that is when i found the damage.

anyone know a good source for the parts i will need?

What I can see from your pitchers is an old common Harley problem the glue that holds the magnets comes loose and the slide together and then go into the rotor, there is a inproved rotor that can be installed but I never install one till it messes up as far as replacing I wood install the three phase compufire
