My New 2003 Big Dog Chopper

I just got my 2003 Big Dog Chopper a few weeks ago and I noticed when I get to about 3800 RPMs it starts to miss or choke, I notice it more in 2nd gear. I just added a D&M Dual Boss Air Cleaners but had a issue with my spark plug wire breaking the night before so I don't know if it has anything to do with it.
My spark plug wire broke at the cap and it cut out on me when I was driving, I put it back in and went a block home with it misfiring the same. I thought replacing the spark plug wire would of fixed that issue and maybe it did but I did the air cleaner and wire plus fuel hose which is 5/16 7.9mm vs the 5/16 8.0mm. Can the fuel line cause it to starve too? Sorry for my run on sentences, typing from my iphone. Does anyone know what could be the issue?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi,

Intro?

Do you guys want to know about the bike or me? Sorry for not knowing, I was at Cooks Corner today and talked to some people I met and they told me this would be a great spot to ask questions. I just got my 2003 Big Dog Chopper a few weeks ago, I got my MC lic when I was 16, now 41 and I have been riding on and off all these years. I have always had a love for AMERICAN MADE MC's. My dad raised me to buy American, he always said he rather push and Harley than ride anything else. This was before there were really any American MC Companies out there. He has a 2002 883 Sportster with 148HP at the rear wheel because 25,000 into any engine can do that. Now he wants to trade his bike for mine, NOT!!!! I have a Dodge Ram 1500 I am going to show and want my Bike to Match, I am a great backyard mechanic but because I have diabetes I do a little less work and my air cleaners cut a hole in my middle you cut me off and see it bigger than life finger the size of Navada.. I live in Lake Forest a few miles from Cooks Corner which I have been going for years. I got my bike from Triple Threat Choppers that was on consignment from some moron who after I saved his credit by paying cash for his bike that was about to be repoed wanted to charge me 200 for his seat! After buying the bike I offered a chance to use the bike from time to time but after he asked for money for a seat I was promised that offer doesn't stand.... I am a very humble man and have been thru hell and back to get where I am and for me to say this isn't me all the time but if you are reading this Wayne, I HAVE A NICE BDM That you lost and what, You have a Seat!!! Thanks for that one Wayne! Karma is real.... So what else do you guys want to know? My name is Bobby to my good friends and I am always there to help my buddies..

Thanks,
Bob

Thanks,

No I didn't change the jet or do anything other than add the dual air cleaners. I haven't learned much about this engine other than what a few people at Cooks told me. It should be a stock jet on the Super G Carb because it had the stock air cleaner. Looks like I have a lot to learn and a lot of work ahead of me. Thanks all for the welcome..

You need to probably adjust the carb if not rejet. But you should of come here first before spending all that money on those purty aircleaners cause thats probably your problem. They don't breathe for that big motor you have. Take the covers off and see if that helps.

Welcome to the site

I took it to the shop and they changed the jets and it is puring!!!
Good deal....and welcome to the forum. If you're handy with a wrench, changing jets is not that much to do. Lots of info can be found including a "how to" under that section of forum.
