I keep a word document on the computer that lists every part with its price that I spend on the Big Dog for reference. Over the last year and a half I sunk $6453 in this bike's motor... to go slower. I am at a point of frustration that will soon require blood pressure medication.

It is currently Ohio bike week so I took a 150 mile trip to Sandusky, Ohio - the first long trip since all the modifications. During the ride there I noticed some excessive valve train noise not noted in town. With the woods 650 cam I noticed some "whining" like a turbo, but this new noise was a metallic pinging/crunching noise that was worse during a low RPM throttle roll on and a ticking that increases with RPMs. I knew something wasn't right when the bike produced an embarrassing 100 hp after being modified.

I have changed the timing from 32* to 28* and have not noticed much of a change, maybe slightly worse, maybe in my head. I have contacted Bobby Woods who stated "That bike should fart 120 HP. Your numbers are past terrible." Mr. Woods, I agree. He also said the cam wil work with a wide range of compression so that aspect isn't critical.

Terry Reed is a racing engine specialist locally whom Mr. Woods recommended tear the motor apart and go over it with a fine tooth comb. I have been in contact with Mr. Reed who agrees to look at the bike.

My question: Is there something I can do, any recommendations prior to a hefty bill and huge loss of riding time. He already said he wants to tear the motor apart to check everything, flow the heads, ect. After $6500, I really really really don't want to drop another $1500 if I don't have to.

List:
W6HF 650 cam
W188 springs
Mikuni HSR48 carb
Thunder Heart ignition
Whimmer 90 degree with HPF-1 high flow filter
RB Racing 2:1 exhaust
Custom Nitrous Oxide with purge valve
Minor head job

First with a 650 cam your gonna get a little ting in the motor due to the lift
second if you think about it I know it seems like youve done a bunch of stuff to the engine but based on what your posting I dont see wgere your gonna get that much more than the numbers your seeing on a real Dyno the power is in the heads the proper flow job and the right jug milling will get your numbers up another 30 hp but truth be known I did all the stuff to my 124 that I put in my K9 and except for racing a buddy on his mastiff I dont feel all the extra hp and I`m hitting around 140 but my bike really loves the gas stations

so you have done nothing with compression?? no bigger valves?? I dont want to sound like a ass but.......... to create HP you have to have fuel and air the more you can shove in the hole the more power!! the tighter you can squeeze it... the more HP you will get. you want to talk to John Sachs he will tell you what to do and not beat around the bush with shit
