Need experienced input on ignition components in my 2001 ProSport

Advice needed from the ignition gurus here: I just picked up a 2001 Pro Sport w/ 3700 miles on it, I'm the second owner. Bike was owned by a doctor who hardly rode it and recently dropped a chunk of change upadating everything on the bike about 500 miles ago, plus adding some nice aftermarket goodies. Overall it is pretty much new front to back, and was waiting for me to come along to give the thorough and regular rides it deserves :D

After going through the bike this week and familiarizing myself with what's where and what's what, I discovered it has no EHC, no PDM.

The bike was professionally re-wired (From what I understand they removed the TH unit which had replaced the factory EHC) and has the following installed:

>> circuit breakers located below oil tank
>> 55120 32A Compufire Voltage regulator located below tranny in pan
>> Crane HI-4 ignition located in ignition housing - set to 'race mode' and I do not know the present setups on it. but everything seems to run / idle strong
>> Crane 76-04 Single Fire Hi Intensity coil
>> "updated" BDM 1.4 kW starter
>> unknown spark plugs (have not pulled them yet)
>> unknown plug wires

Bike has no handlebar controls, no turn signals, no indicator lights. Key is on the coil cover and push start is on the left side lower oil tank. it was given a minimalist look that I kind of like. However, I may want to add a Dakota digital speedo / tach unit in place of the BDM factory speedo.

So my questions are:
>> Is this a good setup for the 107 TP motor? (SS carb, Baker 6)
>> Anything missing here that should be here?
>> Optimal timing / dwell etc for this motor (will have it in soon for some dyno time and proper dialing in)
>> best plugs and plug wires to use with this setup?
>> anything else I should know but dont know enough to ask?

Thanks!

Also would like to add there is no VOES on the bike, thinking it might be beneficial to install one? this might help with the slight notchiness on light throttle that I've got.

update- ok now that I have had time to pull everything apart and inspect, I have pretty much answered my own questions. Completely re-wired the bike to my satisfaction (some things were not wired quite correctly, no solder on connectors, added relays to drive system main power and start button current, ran heavier gauge wires, etc), changed key switch and start button locations, added a VOES (6.5" hg activation), new dual Dyna coils, Twisted wires, plugs, XxX Super G carb, Braille battery. Keeping the Crane HI4 for now. Waiting for my tins to get back from paint shop before I can fire her up and get everything dialed in.

Let us know how the VOES worked...don't recall anyone installing one on a dog before..

I think the general consensus is you shouldn't be lugging the engine for the voes to kick in anyways...

Sure- in order to use a VOES the installed ignition must support it. It may be the EHC on the Dog handles timing advance / retard in its own way, and a VOES cannot be used because there is no provison to hook one up. All of the EHC / PDM stuff is gone plus have the Crane HI4 ignition, which can be used with a VOES.

I'll let you know how it pans out- hopefully have my tins back by this weekend. Hey did you know that BDM used a shitload of bondo for shaping / finishing (at least some of) their tanks? My paint guy was whining about it... lol
