O.K., I think I'm witnessing my first BD electrical issue....as some of you might know, I just picked up my bike last Thursday. I've only got about 45 miles on my bike, but as I was riding today, I noticed my oil and neutral light would light up as I squeezed the front break or stepped on the rear break....is this a common issue? All experiences are welcome...

shouldn't have anything to do with the braking unless the forward motion is possibly causing a wire to touch in the speedo bucket, possibly a break in the circuit board. contact your stealer with the complaint.:2thumbs:

woodbutcher is right......if you are already having some type of electrical problems...and you don't even have 100 miles on it.....have your dealer come pick your bike up and let them go through it......

Those clips on the right holding the wire can come loose then your rear tire rubs thru the wires causing problems. This area is the only place where your front brake switch and rear brake switch are joined. This has happened before to other people. Simply pull one of the fender strut bolts on each side, loosen one of them on one side... so you now have one of the four still in and tight and one on the oppisit side loose. Now with your hand on the fender, loosen the final bolt, swing the entire fender up and then re-tighten it, which will hold the fender up. Inspect those wires as my pic shows.

Now the problem could also be in the rear taillight housings as well.

Just another thought I had a similar problem but I had moisture in the EHC connector which was causing a short between some of the pins in the connector. This happened while riding in the rain.

Thanks for the detailed instruction...but I don't want the dealer to breech any of there responsibilities or do anything that give them an outlet....I have to leave it to the pros...considering they have 45 miles on my sign off sheet, but my bike only has about 41 miles after I've put on 5 miles.

Sun bill;

You're covered by your dealer -- don't let these guys talk you into more problems. Call the dealer and have THEM fix it proper.

Hey I just said check it...
Gas is right, dont hurt to look at the easy things VS weeks of down time sitting in the shop waiting for someone else to look at it. Get a shop manual too. These things are hands on for most of us....:eek: :2thumbs:

Not to mention what if you don't trust your dealership.

I'm not sure about yours sun, and the fact that your in the infancy stage of the realationship and may not even know how bad they are. That is how most of us started...

You have to take time and look for yourself for sure.....Check and make sure your bolts are all there and check the ones that are for tightness. See if any parts have fell off too or are about too.
The vibration on these bikes can loosen connectors or rub wires..

I'm a strong believer that nobody will care for your bike better than you. If you can't handle it, have a buddy help, preferbably a buddy that will be stuck on the side of the road with you if you break down. Neither of you will want that! :lol:
