New aftermarket starters?

Hello all,

I am in need of another starter. I dont plan on giving another BDM starter the opportunity to leave me ass-up in Nowhereville, USA again. With that being said, any recommendations on a completely rebuildable starter? Ive already spoken to Spyke, they no longer carry starters for us. sigh...

I had heard of All Balls. Any input on this company?

Tech cycles also makes a dssc starter. I've put in two. First was flawless, 2nd had lots of issues, though they stood behind it, no questions asked every time.

Having issues with my 04 chopper starter, got the zing going on. called spyke they said they would issue me an RA to have my starter shipped back to them and they would rebuild it for $85.00. Waiting right now for their lead tech to call me back.

Find out why the starter failed. Most failures are not the starters fault. External reasons are the cause. Excessive cranking to fire the engine is the biggest. Underrated battery the next. Worn flywheel, etc... Find out why it failed or the likliehood is any new replacement will fail also.

The shaft coming into the primary is what broke. I was told it was the jackshaft the last time this happened. Now im told its the starter clutch shaft. Either way, its because BDM produces garbage. So starter #11 will not be one of thier pieces of shit.
I already contacted corporate just to see what they would say. I explained in detail what Ive gone through, and included purchase date and warranty end date, and asked if they would do anything. Their reply was I was asking for warranty work and since my warranty was past (I already told them this!) they cannot help me. I replied explaining its not a warranty request, its a PR request. I have to get a reply. I got exactly what I expected from BDM Corporate...screwed again.
Ill find an aftermarket starter and this will end my starter issues. Thanks for your input though.

I read about the car alternator shaft fitting our starters. I made some calls to local shops, and sent some emails to BDM Corporate, and they did have a new shaft and installed it in the starter for me for $63.50. I did the R&R on the V and she runs like a champ! Im very happy I didnt have to spend another few hundreds dollars for starter #11. The part number for the shaft is 028381-0040, and the number for the starter it comes from is 028000-7300. I had mine done at Victory Auto Electric and Air, Inc. at 4521 Sunbeam Rd in Jacksonville, FL. Phone number is 904-731-5065.

As for BDM Corporate...they can fuck off, worthless pricks.

I hope the above info helps everyone. Enjoy the ride.
