No red LED on thunder heart ignition module

The battery finally showed signs of dying. With the new battery installed, went to tighten the positive hardware, the wrench slipped and it hit the thunder heart ignition module and did the "arc weld" to the wrench and housing of the module :oldbang:. Before the bike would start up and everything would turn on. Now everything turns on but doesn't fire up and the LED on the ignition module does not come on anymore. I can't find the EHC any where, maybe it was taken out and rewired? Its a 2004 Chopper.

Red light should come at first and then flash with the crank pick up. Make sure you get the 12 vdc to module.

2 Things, if you follow that large wire bundle that runs past your battery, that will lead to your EHC/controller. But it does look like the original is gone. Also that 4 pin connector that is hanging there, that connects to the Ignition Module, check all the pins and see if any of them melted or broke off. Check the unit side as well.

The two holes is what your EHC bolts down to. The ehc has two bolts on the bottom side and the nuts hold it on with two rubber bushings.it should look something like the pix below.

If ignition is bad call Curtis at wildsteedworx.com I’m not a 100% sure but I think ThunderHeart isn’t making ignitions any more and Curtis has replacements.

Bench tested module and the LED turned on. Followed Roadie’s advice and found a burnt out pin. Made a jumper wire and the bike started right up. Going to repair the pins and see how the lithium battery performs. The battery that was installed has hardware that are 9mm instead of the assumed 10mm, that’s how I ended up touching the ICM with the wrench.

The EHC is definetly not on my bike like the one pictured. Looks like it was removed once upon a time. Does anyone know how that is done?

If I had to guess, its either mounted in the dead space under the fender right behind the battery (there is a black plastic splash guard). Or, there is a space right under the battery where the horn is. Your controller is mounted in one of these 2 spots. But yes the normal stock one would of mounted in the 2 holes under the seat like BMF posted.

Some old cars are wired with positive cable going to chassis so then you would connect and tighten negative first and than the positive.

Hey Boss great find, was putting it all back together after paint grabbed the TH to screw it down accidentally touched something and poof, ground wire toasted. What was your fix? Thought about paper clip in there as it's needed for ground not power with the original pin being that small as well. Thank you in advance for your help.
