no spark K9

I own a 06 K9. last june the engine was hot and I came out of the bar and when I hit the run button the engine turned over but no spark. I let it sit for 15 mins and it started and ran fine until aug and the same thing happened. Then 2 weeks ago as I came to a stop light it just quit on me as if I hit the kill button and the same thing, let it sit and it started. Right now it's running fine. I could use some help.

Turn the key on check that the LED on the ignition module (under the seat ) lights up. Key on push the run button. If it lights up, turn the motor over, the other 2 LEDs should flash back and forth. All that will verify that there is power to the mod. and the flashing is spark out of the mod. after that look at all connections to the coil.

Same thing kept happening to Bigdogbro1, here's what he found:

UPDATE: 9/07/09
Well I think we found a possible problem. After looking at the S&S EFI controller with the PC ProTune software we found a front O2 sensor malfunction. Beezer's checked out the connector and wires on both front and rear O2 sensors and found a black wire that was worn from rubbing against the oil pump line large hex nut edge. The rear O2 sensor short connector pigtail that exits the harness in front of the tranny. It wore through the harness cover into one of the black wire conductors. There are two black wires on this connector and both are grounds. One of the black ground wires runs to multiple sensors and is probably low voltage (5v signal ground). This wire group that was damaged was then covered with liquid tape and the connector was treated with dielectric grease before being rerouted. I also checked a added extra dielectric grease to the two large EHC main connectors, which both were clean and already greased.

subfxr, you wont have any o2 sensors on your model but what I would do in addition to the above is check your ignition switch. When you have it running wiggle it and see if it kills the motor.

About 06 BDM issues a service bulletin to fill the EHC module with Die-electric grease. Pull yours (being VERY careful) and check it for grease and if not fill it (only die-electric).
Next time you have this issue tell us what lights are lit up on the EHC both before you turn the key off and when you turn it on and hit the run button.

Are you keeping the bike on a battery tender?

Are you a sub guy?

I think that Coolbreeze is on the right track since the starter still cranks. The ignition module has 3 LED's (red, yellow, and blue.) The red should light up when the run button is pushed. It should also flash while cranking. The blue and yellow LED's should flash alternately while cranking. If all this happens, the problem is between the ignition module and spark plugs. Red LED on module lit but not flashing while cranking= possible crank sensor or ignition module. Red LED flashing, no blue or yellow=definate ignition module. No red LED at all on the ignition module, check power and ground to the ignition module.
