No Tail Lights, No Turn Signals all of a sudden

Help, today, I was riding and all was fine, all lights were working. Got home, parked the bike and came back out to move it and no tail lights, no turn signals. I can't find anything loose, or disconnected. There are no lights showing as tripped on the EHC, so I am sure I didn't blow all bulbs at one time. Headlight still works.

When I unscrewed the front left turn signal, I found that there was a long white wire in there not attached to anything. I tried touching it to some of the metal with the key turned to see if I got anything and nothing happened.

Also noticed that both front turn signals has only one bulb, but looks like it is made for 2 like the back. Is that normal too?

Any suggestions on what to try and check???

This is for a 2000 Pit Bull.

Thanks for any help.

Well I have the 03 mastiff. It is probably the closest to what you have. I've had this happen twice. Once I had rubbed the wires under the rear fender. Check those and make sure that they are plugged in tight just under the seat. The other time I had a broken spark plug wire. It was not visible. It was making port contact at best and sometimes was arcing. Well that being said it fried my ehc.

Can you tell me what the wires would look like under the seat to check that they are plugged in? I saw 2 connections that were red to red and black to black and they were connected by a small white connector. Is that what you are talking about, or should I remove my battery. I just can't really find anywhere, where there seemed to be connections under the seat except for those 2 white connectors.

Also where is your spark plus wire that is not visible. It would help so much to have a mechanics book on this model to know where all the things are at.

So what did you do both times to correct this, I guess the second time, you replaced the EHC because of the arcing? And have you had any more issues with it.

Thanks for your info.

A had a similar problem on my '03. The brakes lights and turn signals would stop working. If I turned the key off and back on the problem went away. Check your battery cables and make sure they are tight. Also check the ground cable for good contact. After I put a new battery in the bike the problem never came back. Just my experience...hope it helps.

Those are the wires. Now they go back through you fender. Between the fender and the tire. You may have to get it on a lift to see between. Just check all the way from the light to the connector for wore spots. Pull the light out and look inside the housing. I mean the entire wire. Beginning to end. Now if you have no luck there get out the volt meter. And start tracing the issue. My spark pug wire was broken inside the boot where I couldn't see it. Like the wire came loose from the crimp.
