Only slipping in 4th gear??......perfect!

Energy One
What on earth would cause this to happen even know the clutch pack is dead on stack height....things look hardly worn at all. Its only been doing it in 4th and at the end of 6th ...sometimes....under heavy throttle?? Has anyone. Ever had this start to happen to them out of nowhere?

I personally have not had that problem but I would start by adjusting the clutch. Have you changed the primary fluid recently? I've heard of some types causing slippage.

Changed it 3 times now , currently on non synthetic bel ray primary heavy duty v twin . I've been adjusting the clutch but not sure if I've been doing it correctly ...I've been just barley bottoming Out the pushrod/clutchrod and then back a quarter turn, tighten. But now on here I've seen that one guys been doing it this way for years but he says he goes to the bottoming Out part and then he tightens another 2 to 3 turns and then goes a quarter back from that, does this sound right to anyone?

1-3 are straight cut gears, 4th up are helical cut.

Helical gears creates a side load on the main shaft. If you have play in the bearings it will shift the shaft and open the clutch.

Sounds like it’s time for a rebuild and new bearings

Hmm....can't I shim somethin? It's only got 9k on it and it was just all of the sudden when I got it back...worked perfect when I dropped it off....thinkin they forgot to put something back or did it wrong.

Well, if there are doubts they fked it up, take it apart n verify. They may have mis-stacked the clutch pack? A wise man here once said...."why pay someone else to fk up ur bike when you can do that for free?" Most of us here wrench our own for that very reason...
