Problems with exhaust pipes "warping" when hot

Has anyone had a problem with there exaust pipes (stock pipes) "warping"? If I ride around the block one time the tips of the pipes "warp" inward until they are rubbing the swinarm. Once they cool down they go back "straight" with plenty of clearence.

I've never heard of that before, what pipes do you have, how far are they moving when they are hot?

Thats a weird problem . You have stock pipes are they the supertraps because that's what I have I can't see them moving in enough to hit anything. Stainless is pretty tough even in high heat applications. Snap a pic of it I would like to see how much it moves.

I have a 2007 BD chopper with stock pipes. When cool the pipes have about 1/4" to 5/16" clearence. Support brackets are tight , everything seems right.I'll try to take some pics and upload in awhile.

is the exhaust being restricted at the outlet? because that is the only reason i can think of that would build up the amount of heat it would take to cause them to warp to that extent.:confused:

Having trouble loading the pics off my computer. Could the engine being out of tune cause heat in the pipes like this?

Yeah a engine not tuned right can cause a exhaust heat issue. A lean problem or a timing issue can cause high exhaust temps but I can't see it getting that hot all the way at the tips tha heat is going to be closer to the motor.

Wow that's pretty strange. I agree with advice given, loosen all brackets and even at the engine flages, and try to re-align further outword. To move that much I wold almost expect to see them glowing red????? Do they have any glow in the dark when hot? I am a metal heat treater by trade, it would take upward of 800 -1000 dregrees to move from heat. That is way hot for exhaust.

Have not checked for the "glowing red" will try that and let you know, and will try to loosen all the brackets and re-aline. As far as the engine being out of tune I have been told for it to get the pipes that hot at the tips, that it shouldnt hardly run.
