rear fender strut

hi. the right rear fender strut on my 08-k9 has a little free play in it. the two bolts on the side and the bolts inside the fender are tight. any suggestions on how to remedy this problem would be appreciated. thanks!!

never heard that one before. maybe pull the bolts and put a washer behind them? they may be bottoming out before they tighten up on the fender. if you do, make sure you use loctite when you replace them.

Is the freeplay on the strut to frame or strut to fender?

I think the K9 struts are the same as the chop struts in this respect. If so, check these bolts underniethe

the play is at the front where it mounts to the frame. thanks for the pics gas man.i can grab the signal light and see the front of the strut give where it bolts to the frame. but the bolts are tight. there is a gap on that strut but not a gap on the left side strut.

thanks for the info, guy's. i did put a washer behind it, put the bolt on with loctite. don't see any free play now.

Bolts are probably to long. My buddy 06k9 developed a very loud suspension squeak and we found one of the bolts actually went through the frame and was rubbing on the swing arm craddle. Removed bolts and cut about a 1/16th off squeak gone. The other bolt I believe may bottom out in the frame, that's the bolt closest to the rear of the bike. Hope this helps.
