SC CHAOS II EXHAUST TRANS BOLT?

Anyone running Stainless Creation Chaos II pipes? I've snapped two of the exhaust mounting bolts within a week and was curious what size you were using. I'm currently using 5/16 X 4 grade 8 and they keep snapping about an 1/8 inch into the threaded area.

At least it hasn't stripped out your transmission threads. I just shitcanned my second pair of SC pipes in Palm Springs last week. Other set broke completely around the rear exhaust port after the bracket broke for the uptenth time. Nothing but problems for me but they look cool and sound great.
I would just ensure that you do what Cling says. Get the pipes on the heads as tight as you can then set the bracket. Bolts probably breaking due to loose pipes or misalignment

Thank's Raywood. I definately got lucky on the trans threads. I'll try Cling's method and hopefully I can get this permanently resolved. Nothing worst than trying to plan a long ride and worrying about that bolt snapping again. I'll just pack a spare in the bag for good measure.

I am running the same pipes :2thumbs: I have not had a problem with mine...I also do like Clint says...get the bolts tight in the heads...then tighten the bracket. Love these pipes!! :whoop:

I run the Chaos IIIs. I like the look and sound. Had problems with tranny mount bolt coming loose. Eventually, tranny threads stripped. Had to retap threads in tranny bolt hole. Ended up making a bracket and mounting exhaust back to the frame. Been working fine ever since.

After tightening the exhaust flanges first, I came to realize that the mounting hole on my exhaust bracket mount was about a 1/4'' off from the mounting hole on the trans mount bracket. With the holes being so far off, it was basically pulling up on the trans mount bracket. The pressure along with vibration was causing the bolt to shear off. Swapped out to a smaller diameter bolt for the exhaust bracket mount and no more pressure on the trans mount. Went on a ride for about 3 hrs encountering a few rough rodes and no prob with the bolt. Yeah!!! You would think that after close to 1K for pipes that the mount would be the last thing you would have to worry about.
