Hello All ,

I just bought an 07 K-9. I at certain RPMs I have a bad vibration in my Sissy Bar. I can reach around and when I hold it the vibration stops. I checked all the bolts and they are tight.

Anybody had this problem and found a way to fix it?

Thanks
Darrell

Some of the bolts that shipped for the K9 sissy bar were a touch too long. They would be tight but if you pull up on the sissy bar does it have any play? I had to order replacement bolts for mine, if that's the case make sure you get "grade 8" replacements. You can get them in a 5 pack from J&P cycles also. Don't know if that's your problem but worth a check.

Thanks I would not describe it as "play" but it seems too loose when I wiggle it. There is a bolt on the right side but nothing on the left. Does the bar come "fixed" to the left with only a bolt on the right? Or are you talking about the bolts that mount it to the fender being too long? Looks like you have to remove the back tire to get to those???

J&P cycles...not familiar with them. I will Google them. Did you find the bolts under K-9 Sissy Bar parts? Or does the same bar fit all models.

Thanks for your help.

Should be a bolt on both sides that goes up from the fender strut (chrome side pieces). So yes there should be 2 bolts that attach the sissy bar each coming up through the fender strut in the bottem end of the sissy bar. I ordered grade 8 chrome bolts from J&P 'cause they were cheaper and I got them in a 5 pack. I'll find the part number for ya and post that later as well.

Should be bolts on both sides, you have had one break off, I had the same thing happen to my K9, went with hardened bolts and the problem was solved... May want to check strut bolts too, they were in on a recall as well and I had one of thOse snap off too.

Take the one good bolt you have out and go to your local Fastenal or bolt store and have them find you the same bolt in SS or a hardened grade 8.. Easy find and fix. If you dont have any luck I have 8 in the garage in SS that I ordered for my K9, those damn zinc bolts the sissy bars came with were junk.... I replaced the ones on my new Ridgeback with ss during the install..

Hey thanks guys

I just called my BD service and they know about the recall. The bad news is they need me to bring it in just to order the parts. Then come back for the install. It is a 60 mile ride ( each way)...all freeway thru downtown Houston. I hate riding in all that traffic!

I would have never known about the fix without you guys

Thanks
I am gonna do the donation right now. This is a great site!
