Speedo Problem

Need help with a Speedo Problem on an 05 Pitbull. Everything except the speedo is working. At power up during the diagnostic check the needle moves to the right but doesn't return. Sometimes it returns at power off, sometimes it doesn't. Doesn't sound like an EHC problem (I could be wrong)since everything else is working fine. I checked all connections other than those at the speedo and plan on taking the tank faring off today to get to that. Any help would be appreciated.

Remember that the Autometer speedometer suffers from weak batteries at startup. Is your battery on a tender and always fully charged?
Early models (05 anyway) suffered from lots of speedo issues hence my 10 I went though. Another fix the factory did was replace the bracket that is wider to help absorb some of the vibration that would actually cause the wires inside the unit to break loose. There are many threads here on the speedos so search and read.

Me, I gave up on the Auto unit and ordered the Dakota Digital from Mad Dog. Way easier to read and doesn't suffer from low power start ups like the Auto unit.

Thanks Ray. Battery is good, I keep it on a Tender. I took the speedo apart today and had no loose wires or corrosion. I guess the speedo has just gone to crap. I looked at your post on the Dakota, great post BTW. Think I'll try the Dakota.
Thanks again.

If your ever in Florida...gives us a shout.
