Starter problems

Hello fellow BigDog riders. My name is Brad. I have a 2003 Chopper. This was the closest forum that I could find for the problem I have. I've checked the Jackshaft bolt and it is engaging when I hit the start button, it spins the flywheel, so seems to be good. At the same time the engine doesn't turnover. Just a winning noise. Maybe the starter needs to be replaced? Thank you for any help.

Bendix isnt engaging...its cheaper and easier just to put a new starter on

I dont think so. Nothing is loose. I think I might need to take it off and see what the deal is behind it. I just got the bike, ive started it 3 times, last time was to tak it off the trailer at my house, started with no problem. Then this problem. Im gonna upload a video when I het home. Just learned how to do so. Thank you for your reply.

The video at the top of this thread would indicate a probable starter drive clutch but your verbal description would suggest a failure of the clutch assembly. Just saw your new video. You need to pull your clutch assembly apart to see what the failure is.

Acoording to the video clutch basket bolts are sheared off... i have fixed a few of these and one of mine has done that...this is a common problem with primo baskets...best of my memory the bolts are 5/16 fine thread...probably going to have several holes that are jacked up and not round anymore and missing threads
