hi all
my battery will only turn the motor over about 10 time before going flat.
it has a 270 cca the starter is a spyke 1.4kw.
and the engine is a 1450 el bruto 120
i have been told the wiring is ok including all the earths.
and advised to change the battery to a bigger cca and put a 2kw starter on it.
at the moment it struggles to start and if it doesn't it drains the battery.
and the battery is new.
and have been told the starter will cost £580 and battery will be £200 for the biggest cca you can get for the size.
money is in pounds as i live in the uk
thanks all.

load check your battery & see if its still good... I use a braile battery 685cca in the pit & 705cca in the mastiff.. ..you must have a good battery to start with...

Check compression releases if you have them.
Load test battery
Check charging system
Not sure what batteries are easily available on your side of the pond but 310 is the recommended minimum from big dog. More is always better.
I have a Braille. Starts great.

My 3 year old battery started to act up. Installed a brand new Braille battery i bought this summer. It was a dud. Braille replaced it with a new one that puts out 770cca and it turns over like no tomorrow.

the battery is only 4 weeks old
when a brought the bike i was told it was a 1450cc engine and it was a ultima elbruto 120ci which doesnt match so i have been told.
how can you tell what model engine in the ultima range it is as i cannot see any markings on it for the model.
i have been advised to change the starter to a 2kw from a 1.4kw if the engine is above a 1450cc?????????

Has a "Interstate" Battery that does a great job. This battery is $112 here. I replaced it when the EHC quit!

120 cu in is about 1976 cc's. so thats a large motor and I would say you would need a good starter. But also confirm all of the other things mentioned. Yes some new batts are bad may read 12 volts but put it on a load tester to confirm. Also could be any of the other things mentioned as far as grounds, compression etc. Will this new batt crank the motor with the spark plugs removed? Thats a easy test. If it want then its somethin else.

Also most engines have a serial number on them somewhere. You could call the manuf to find out about it. I think most new engines come with a "MSO" Manufacturers Statment of Origin. So there should be a serial number somewhere.

Just some thoughts, V. :2thumbs:

Says sold only thru Midwest Supply. They don't show a El Brutto under 100 cu in. So yours probbaly is the 120. There web page says they are on face book under ultima. You might be able to drop a note on there and get a response or call Midwest
