What is the tool/trick needed to get that ring out? Derek and Donna haven't heard about it and Curtis does not have anything mentioned on his site.

I have a RH turn indicator that flashes with varying intensity pending on the RPM's of the motor. I have a spare tack light ring but how do I go about taking the old one out?

Thanks for all good advice.

I have the drawing. No tools shown though.. I am thinking some tool to twist that ring off, or use the wise with a couple of drill bits mounted in it...

If you are talking about the ring. there is a little round snap ring on the back side of the ring and you can get it out with a pick. its part number 6 on the diagram.

There are no tools or tricks and there is nothing to "Twist" Off.
Are you referring to the outer shell that the speedometer mounts into?
That whole assembly is very simplistic and just has to be handled with care

Great info, thanks guys. I'll dig into it when I come home. I thought there was a ring screwed in to the housing holding it all together. That little flashing turn signal indicator is just bugging me and hopefully that's where the problem is.

You have 3 bolts at the bottom of the mount. 2 of them hold the speedo in place and the center one allows the speedo to separate when you remove it. Pretty simple once you get into it

Awesome. Thanks. I'll dig into it tomorrow and see if I can get rid of that flashing turn indicator. Hopefully I can also send the old one to Curtis FO a repair.

Well, got some extra time today and it wasn't the ring at all. It was the back bone wire harness. Good thing I had a spare, so I simply replaced it and except soldering in a few wires that was too short it was a pretty painless affair. Works like a champ now and no more flashing indicator.

I can only hope this post did not offend the moderator.

Hi. I have a similar case, I unscrewed 3 bolts at the bottom, but I still can't remove the speedometer from shell cup.

Do you have any ideas ?
