tank liner coming apart

:confused:My 04 ridgeback has the tank liner flaking off of the inside of my gas tank. Which in turn is clogging up my petcock. Other posts have led me towards purchasing PPG DX 579 cleaner. From what I have read, this is a phosphoric acid cleaner. Does anyone have any ideas how I can clean out my old liner without damaging my custom paint job? The tank is dried out and the petcock has been removed, looking for some directions at this point.

You'll have to do some thread searching but I know there is a guy members were sending tanks to that guaranteed not to mess up the paint. Seems like it was $300-$400.

FUEL TANK LINER

THERE IS A PLACE IN FORT LAUDERDALE, FL THAT CAN FIX YOU UP. IT IS CALLED FUEL TANK SERVICES. THEIR NUMBER IS 954-642-6495. THEY RELINED MY K-9 GAS TANK. THERE WAS NOT ANY DAMAGE TO THE PAINT WHATSOEVER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND THEM.

That's it. Thanks Kevin I couldn't find where I read that. What did they charge for that service.

Fuel Tank services quoted me 700.00 for my dual tanks. I did myself and relined with Casswell. I cleaned with acetone and nuts and bolts. Covered the tank with painters tape and duct tape, still some leaked in between paint and tape. But I was re-painting anyway.

THEY CHARGED 350.00 TO REDO THE GAS TANK. THAT MIGHT BE HIGH BUT I DID NOT WANT TO DAMAGE MY PAINT DOING IT MYSELF. I WOULD HATE TO GUESS WHAT A AMERICAN FLAG PAINT JOB WOULD COST.
