Testing an EHC out of a bike

There may be a thread that addresses this but I couldn't find it on a search.

I have an EHC for an 07 K-9 that I thought was brand new but then sometime after I got it (on Ebay) I noticed the package had been opened. The part number is BDM 171-000010-00 for carbureted engine.

My question: Is there a way or is there someone who can check out an EHC for proper function OUT of the bike? I would think a dealer may be able to but not sure. I have not used a BDM dealer except to buy parts and have not asked them this question and the nearest to me are Las Vegas or Salt Lake City.

I was going to use this on my K-9 project bike and try to make it as much like stock as possible but several members have questioned going with an EHC when I am sort of starting from scratch on the electrical. And I still don't have a main (backbone) wiring harness bought because I was still thinking of maybe wiring it like a Harley.

Regardless, I would like to know if this EHC is good no matter whether I use it or sell it.

Thanks, Shovelcowboy

To my knowledge you need the BDM techs to plug into it that have the software. Jason and Romero that go to all the major events plug into them all the time. New EHC's will be loaded up with your VIN #.

Testing an EHC out of a bike,

1. Turn over
2. Does it say EHC?
3. Turn back over
