Thunderheart Ignition Module Help???

Ok please help, I have a 99 CMC Custom Softail with a S&S 96. The other day out for a ride it started cutting out like no gas just filled it, turned around to head back and it died afew times then it would idle but under power it surges. It has the Thunderheart Module I think little billet box next to the coil. When I turn on the key no light but when start button pushed it flickers then the bike starts but just will idle. I have had this bike for a yr with no problems this just started. I checked the crank sensor and looks ok no visable cracks or anything.
Please help.

Ok still need help the bike starts but only idles when I throttle it thats when it surges. Pulled the pluggs they are kinda rich looking. But I have not made any adjustments to anything I have been riding every day for over a yr and this just happened. Not sure where to go with this....

Welcome. Do you use the enrichener on the carb when you start the bike?

Might also want to post up a picture of your bike and do a intro. Alos more information would help.

I agree with V, sounds like your killing it with the enrichener. Replace the plugs and start the bike without it and see what happens. Did you do any changes recently? Anything?

If you just put gas in and it started it could be the gas. This same thing happend to me after refueling and I got a tank with water in it. Ended up draining my tank and float bowl and went to another service station and filled up. It hasn't happened since and I no longer use that gas station anymore...Just saying... You might want to think about that...:2thumbs:

Thanks Guys, I dont use the enrichener to start no need here in Az to damn hot. But I will try the plug change and I drained the tank today. No major changes in the last 3 other than putting a cross over tube kit to get rid of oil building up in my air-filter.

I think it's time to pull the float bowl and clean out the jets and ensure your seals/gaskets are all in good shape. I pull mine apart about every 3 months and there is always some crap in the jets so I have to blow it out with the air hose. Make sure your accelerator pump isn't leaking and causing you a rich condition also.

OK Raywood I did clean the bowl and jets, but know I have another issue I think somethingis wrong with the neutral safty swith or wiring because now when I turn the key I dont get the green light and the bike wont start. I have a feeling I did something to make this happen, I checked the all the wires going into the box between my tanks to make sure they were all still getting good connection. Almost ready to take it in to the shop.:bang:

Mine does that every once in a while. Check the connection on top of the tranny and wiggle it around. It get corroded and wiggling it will clear it. Or it could be a grounded wire somewhere.
What tranmission do you have in that bike of yours?
