Ok, for anyone that knows much about tires im having plans drawn up for a one off cusom built trailer. Im wanting to keep this as low to the ground as possible but without running into tire issues, do they make a 13" or 14" tire that will hold up under a light load, just going to be around 350 pounds on the trailer and the bike.

your bike is more than 350 lbs

Trailers for less will give you prices and load rating for those size tires

Tires that small dont hold up on the highways too well.
Thats what I'm concerned with, Ive never ran anything other than a 15", I didnt know if their was a better tire out their. I can use a 15" but I'll have to do some extra mods to get the trailer to sit on the ground.

BWG, I was refering to the trailer being 50 pounds plus the weight of the bike.. I havnt ruled out using a dropped axle and bagging it while mounting the fenders to the axle so they move with the tire. Its still in the designing stage, I just was curious about the smaller tires.

my pontoon boat trailer had small wheels & tire & held up under weight very well.. but thay are small in dim.. so you might want really good berrings due to wheel rpm.... I new towed it over 70 mph & it always did well & I'm sure a 24 ft boat with a 100 hp outboard & a tandem axel trailer is much heaver than what your gona load it down with.. the wheel size was 8" I believe...

I built a little trailer to haul my riding lawn mower and miller welder years back and i found some Honda Civic Front spindles and put on it.... 13" tires, aluminum ramp that slides under....but didnt make it long enough at the time for my Dog.....

We used smaller tires than that on snowmobile trailers. You just have to go with the wide ones and a heavier side wall rating.

Hey Thumper, I have built several homemade trailers. The last one I built was my best and I used it to haul bikes, snowmoblies, ATV's, lumber, you name it. First I would tell you to look at these axles: torque flex axles, they are easy to install and the trailer will not bounce all over the road and they give a low entry point. As for the tires I was in the tire business longer then I want to remember, the tires I used were made by a company called Semperit, they make a commercial tire in a 185R14-C with a 8-ply rating, they are usually inexpensive but are as tough as nails. Keep them aired up and do yourself a favor and buy a spare wheel & tire to carry with you. Buy you a set of wheel-bearing buddies so that you can keep them greased during your peak hauling season and then I would remove the tires and wheels and store them inside during the off times. Expanded metal works good on the flooring and you can make your own fenders. You can purchase your lights and trailer coupler at any tractor supply store. Wheels can be bought at a salvage yard, if you need any help just let me know....
