Is there a database or a way to contact BDM to verify the number on the motor
To verify if it's the same motor that came with the bike? Or if it's a 117 ci?
Not really sure what your looking to verify.

S&S has info on the motor u could call them with the ID #

S&S in Viola Wisconsin would be able to tell you if the number on your motor (the serial #) matches it's sale (or shipped to) BDM for installation in a BDM Motorcycle.
They have a cross reference database that tells them if that particular serial numbered engine went to BDM and was installed in a Motorcycle that was manufactured by BDM in a particular year .

Just throwing this out. Is the engine serial # on the title? If so compare to title.

I called S&S to make shure my engine was what the seller said it was.
It was still in the crate - New, but you never know.
I spoke with Dave he was very helpful, told me the motor was sold threw Drag Specialties in 05 and that it wasent one of their EPA smog motors.
S&S really stands by their stuff.

I just swapped engines and registered them yesterday (in California). I had to go to the DMV and have the engine swap verified on both bikes. Next I had to get a new title with the VIN# and Engine Serial Number printed on it. The title does not indicate the original engine number so you can't automatically assume that a title represents the original engine..... Of course, common sense comes into play in my case because the Big Dog now has a Harley engine in it and my Fatboy now has my S&S in it.

The Engine has it's Own serial number Stamped On The Engine Case.
Its On the "cam chest" block facing Forward > the area where the oil filter lines come out of the bracket holding the filter .

The title has a VIN #(not the same thing).

You're correct but it depends on which State you register the bike. In California, the title has both the VIN# and Engine# on the title. Read the post I wrote above yours if you want to know how I know this.

I checked the title it's not on there. Anyone have a contact at BDM or BDPP, that may help?
