Vibration

I wish I had more money.
So i've had this vibration for some time now. It seems to me to be getting a little worse and a little worse. I think it is coming from the primary. I romoved the cover and all looks to be tip top but im trippin on this vibration. It vibrates with the rpm. Small at idle and around 1900 it it real noticable to me. Now I let another guy ride it and he cant feel it. I think he is just not used to the bike so he won't feel it. I read a post earlier from ahall that mentioned taking the inner primary off and checking the the bushing and the crank bearing. Nowthat being said is there any test that I can do to it prior to taking the inner off? Wiggle the crank to see if there is any movement? What do you guys think? I really would like this think to be fixed. I know something is up and don't want to just ride it till the mf'er comes apart on me. Ya know?

I don't think the vibration has anything to do with the crank bearings. If it was the crank bearing you would have a knock. Which would be very noticeable all the time. Have you checked your engine and tranny mount bolts to ensure they are torqued down to specs. If they are all tight I would check for something bent as in rotating parts inside the primary or tranny. Good luck, maybe someone who has had a simular problem before can chime in.

Ya gotta get a dial indicator on the clutch basket an shit. You probably have something that is starting to warp or possibly come loose.

I agree with Stroker check the top motor mount mine has worked loose a couple of times, big vibration. I put some teflon tape on it no more problem. first time I tried locktight but the heat from the motor released the locktight. Hope its is that simple Mike :hi:

No dice with the motor mounts. I hit them all and not a one loose. I'm lost I guess I ride till the wheels fall off and then I know for sure what the issue is.

Yeah mine vibrated since the first ride but this is an extra one that has recenly developed. Like I said im almost to the point or just riding it until something fails. I don't know what else to do.

I friend with a 124 S&S had some work done and when he was out for a ride the back tire locked up and jarred the engine to a stop. After that was fixed he noticed a pretty good vibration but couldn't figure it out till after about a 100 mile ride his open primary went to krap. Broken bolt. That was the cause of the vibration problem. The problem finally made its self known. His mechanic explained that sometimes when an engine with as much torque as his gets jammed up something has to give and it was a primary bolt. I guess its kind of a know problem from what he says. He does have an open primary but i'm just saying what his problem was. Just one of the bolts that holds the primary. He replace them all and its back to normal. I have a similiar problem that developed after a real hard launch and next time i bring it in i'm having them check it out.

I can't say it's the same thing but i had a vibration start in mine that felt like it was coming from the primary. It ended up be the charging rotor. When disassembled the splines were going from the charging rotor. Put a new one in and the vibration was gone. Found the problem because the battery went dead, and found that the charging system was not working
