Seen this guy in my side view mirrors behind me ....he followed me up through the canyon and parked next to me...nice bike, he said it was Jesse's last build, as soon as I seen the holes in the down tube of the frame, I thought to myself this is the bike Jesse built in the "Biker Build off" episode

Is it ... can it be ?

Looking forward to retirement
NO!!! Jessie James never did a biker build off except for the bike he did against OCC. The bike your thinking of is from back in 2001 when he did the 1st hole in the down tube bike. #1 it was for a documentory Motorcycle Mania I remember Indian Larry was on that ride and he died in 2004. #1The bike in question was green with blue flames not a orange and black flame. #2 it had a suicide right hand shifter that extended 2'' above the fuel tank. #3 the fuel tank was a wedge shaped design not a smooth up and rolling back tank like this flamed one. #4 the rake on this bike is not even as long as the green bike.#5 the bike he built was a Hard tail and this bike is a soft tail. The only thing the two bikes have in common is they were both built by West Coast Choppers. Remember in there Peak Year Jessie Was not even there. He had managers there running the company while he was doing season 2 of Monster Garage. West Coast Choppers was turning out bikes like mad those years with people throwing money at them for down deposits on bikes. 12-15 bikes a yr were there average with 60% of there income coming from Clothes line sales. Bikes like Shaquille O'Neal sold for $150,000. From 1998-2005 West Coast built a total of 50 bikes and the California Air Reasearch Board fined West Coast $271,250.00 for selling new motorcycles in the state of California with illegal exhaust on all bikes built and sold during that time frame. On EBay right now a guy is selling one of the last rolling chassis with a HD 88cu in motor and West Coast exhaust for $13,000. Kind of how Big dog was right before the factory closed throwing rolling Chasis on ebay to sell what you can as fast as you can for whatever you can get.

The bike in the first post is an El Diablo 2. I would give a nut for one of them. The holes in the downtube makes me question the strength but still....it would be worth a nut.

Yeah, I would question the tensile strength of a down tube with holes in it like that. Would be always wondering, what if when riding that. Wouldn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling...:D

I would guess that they aren't just holes. He prolly slugged them. If that's the case it would be just fine.

Nice, but...

10-points for Mikie. You are so correct, they are slugged.
I've gotta say, I haven't seen very many Dogs I wouldn't take over one of Jesse's. I really prefer the looks of my 02 Pitbull to his buildoff bike. Love my fat tanks and tire. And some of you guys have rides that TOTALLY rock. Of course if I had the ability, I'd love to build up a Frankinstein chopper with a suicide shifter from scratch... That'd be sweet.

Have a happy and safe New Years! Still riding weather here in Iowa!

I couldn't agree more Pittpup. When I bought my bike it was just the way I would have built it at the time. I will never for get the first big dog I set eyes on. I was blown away by that tire. Hell, I wasn't even aware of the fact that there were custom bikes. I thought you just bought them. How narrow I was.

Take on that Frankenstien project. One part at a time.No deadlines...
just do it. To ride down the road on something you created is undescribable.
When someine comes up to you and says nice bike what manufacturer and you let them know that you built it yourself - thats a great feeling of acomplishmant and pride .
I agree fat tire bikes rule - Choppers in general.

Ridgeback is exactly what I wanted to build until I saw one rolling down the road and found out about BD... Maybe change the seat and that is it.

I will never understand why somebody weakens his frame this way only for a ugly look  .
Do not want to know how it rides at higher speeds :bang:.
