Wet sump

Energy One
Hey guys Gary from Minnesota here say I had a new S&S v111 motor installed on my older Big Dog motorcycle just for the hell of it I went out in my trailer and check to see if the oil went down in the tank sure enough it did what are you guys think best way to get that while out of there this one has no casement line underneath looks like it bends through the breathers up on the valve covers or heads or whatever what are you thinking do I have to take the case plug out or is there another way to get the oil out of the case thanks

Follow the directions for the scavenger, there are directions on You tube as well. It will not puke it out of the breather if you use this device to get the last 22oz of dirty oil out.

Oh, you will prolly have a mess no matter what. You may get some puking but with the Scavanger it wont be as bad. Keep rags handy and maybe some floor dri too? Push it out the trailer if ya can. Save ur floor.

I was looking on YouTube or something watching some people use it and they were saying you should warm the bike up before you change the oil which I usually do anyway but if I got a full crankcase full of oil I don't really want to warm it up do I would I be able to take it out of the trailer in the spring and then put the scavenger on and then fire up the bike after draining the oil tank and putting fresh oil in that is would that work then it would suck the excess or a lot of the crankcase you think is that the way to do it cuz I can't really warm the bike up with the shitload of oil in the case it would try to puke it all out the Breather somewhere

Sounds like a plan.

I really don't understand the concern with taking the case drain plug out, I do it all the time and have never stripped or cross threaded. When installing the plug it only needs to be snug tight as it has a rubber o-ring which you don't want to crush. If you have the majority of your tank drain into the bottom end chances are that you won't be able to start the bike, trust me I know this from experience on Sue's AIH.

Many guys, myself included, take the breather line off the carb back plate and run it under the bike. That way when it wet sumps you don't end up with a mess in your carb. After sitting a couple weeks or more I would put a small container under the bike to catch the oil that blew out. The oil scavenger is great for changing your oil because it removes the dirty oil out of the crankcase.
Some advise against removing the plug out of the bottom of the crankcase because it's easy to strip the threads and a big problem to repair.

Yes as long as you are careful it can be done without problems. But, I have seen it happen many times where it gets overnighted or cross threaded which is easy to do. Whatever works best for you. Many of these bikes are pre owned and the previous owners or techs who service the bike may have been in a hurry then you discover another problem. It’s a warning to new owners especially just to be cautious. Good luck
