Wire Plus Issue...

I bought my 05 Bull Dog this past summer from a friend of mine who had bought the bike new. He had the wire plus harness installed due to issues with the factory harness (which I have read all about). A few weeks after I had bought the bike the horn either shorted or my horn switch stuck and I had to shut the bike off, turn the key on and off a few times, then restart it before the horn would shut off. Once I started it back up the horn would not work I noticed a burnt smell afterwards but was a little ways away from home so I didn't have any tools to take it apart and inspect the issue. When I got home I tested for power running to the horn and found that it was constant. I pushed it to the side telling myself I would get around to fixing the horn assuming it had shorted. Needless to say I started having other issues later that week, my turn signals (front and rear) and brake lights stopped working but the running lights still were illuminated. Now I cant get the bike to start. There is no power running to the starter when I hit the start button however I can run I jump wire from the battery to the starter and get the bike to start. Has anyone had similar issues? I'm new to Big Dog but I can usually find my way around a problem and this one has been a major headache. Any help would be great!

I wish I had more money.
Hey Bigdog66. I'm guessing one of the guys will have an answer for you but they will ask you to go to the intro section and do one first. That really should have been your first post.

I would start at the switch on the handle bar. Check and see if you have power going into the switch with the key switch on, then see if you have power coming out of the switch when you press the start button. Also not sure what effects a weak battery will have on a WirePlus system but I do know a bad battery will make the BDM EHC do some wierd stuff. If the handle bar switch checks out and the battery is good start looking for chaffed wires or loose connections. If you don't find anything you can send your WirePlus back to the company and they will check it out for you. The burnt smell concerns me and you probably have something shorted out or together.

Thanks RRRUFF i'll check it out tonight, I do know the only switch that does actually work as it should now is the high/low beam but I'll take it apart and see what I find. I talked to the guys at WP and they basically told me to look at the wiring diagram on their site which really wasn't that helpful. I was hoping they had heard of an issue like mine before to single the problem.
