How do you remove the rear master cylinder on a 06 Mastiff?

My rear master cylinder is leaking bad and I need to remove and most likely rebuild. Can anyone tell me what all is involved in removing the rear master cylinder. It appears that I may need to remove the exhaust to get to one of the bolts but want to hear from you before I may do more work than needed. Thank you in advance.

Donna and Derek sell rebuild kits , remove the snap ring pull the parts out clean really well and put new spring seals plunger etc in and make sure you use dot 5 fluid
Thank you, I will do all that. However my question is what is are the steps to remove the master cylinder from the bike. Does the exhaust pipes need to come off?

I rebuilt the one on my pitbull it does not need to be removed from the bike it's pretty simple to do takes longer to bleed the brake get yourself a speed bleeder it makes it much easier
Thanks, my cylinder leaks behind where it mates with the mount. No leaks at plunger rod or line. Need to remove from bike by after removing one bolt it still will not come off. I see the other bolt but it does not appear to hold to the mount and I will need to remove the lower pipe to get that bolt out.

Not sure never took mine off as stated I rebuilt it on the bike no reason to remove it in my case
Thank you. I will take another look. I guess you rebuilt on bike by removing plunger. The odd thing is my leak is coming from between the cylinder and the mount. All dry around the line and plunger. That is why I figured I would need to remove it for repair. A picture of one removed showing the back side would be helpful.

Behind the mount? Sure it's not leaking at the crush washer underneath where the brake line connects? There isn't anything to leak on the back side near the mount.

100% sure not coming from the line or where it connects. And yes, right where the cylinder sandwiches with the mount is where the fluid is coming from. Front by plunger and line is dry. I found it odd as well and thought there may be a weep hole back there.

No weep hole....would have to be leaking out of the gasket at the top where the cover is...

But it's just the two bolts that hold on the control take those out and you can swing it around.

I will say that the bike sat all summer with no riding and when I did my pre ride check the rear brakes were not working. I removed the cylinder cover and bone dry. As I poured new "DOT 5" fluid in, it began to leak where I stated.

Take pics when you take it off..like Kevin said it could be cracked but it's damn beefy I don't know how that would happen

Thanks for the pic. I have only removed one bolt so that explains why it still will not come off, lol. I just don't see the other bolt that would hold it onto the bike. Does the foot peg bolt on the inside of the bike need to be removed as well. Like I said earlier, the other hex head bolt I see doesn't appear to hold it onto the bike and I ill definitely need to remove lower pipe to get to it. I never spilled any fluid refilling the reservoir and it started leaking on its own after I filled it up. I will add I hooked up a brake bleeder to the rear bleed valve and had a suction on the system trying to bleed it.

I just noticed the exact same thing on my 04 chopper. Reservoir was empty, added fluid and bled the line, then noticed a drip from what sounds like the same location. Haven't had a chance to try and remove yet.

I hope to get some time this weekend to remove mine. If I do I will update on findings and try to add some pics. Please do the same if you beat me to the removal, and share how you got it off the bike, lol.

I got my rebuild kit in and installed. Still a drip! I removed the cover and mine is cracked. This is gonna be pricey. Where can a guy pick up a new assembly?

1st pic, you can see the crack.
2nd pic, on my chopper there were 2 Allen head 5/16 holding the assembly to a mounting plate

Yea, I know a guy that has a high frequency machine and is a pretty good welder, but man, this thing is cracked almost all the way around
