Hello. I just had my starter rebuilt after it was ruined by oil getting into it. Wild Steed Worx rebuilt it and it has the upgrades to prevent oil getting in. They did suggest adding the vent on the inner primary. I'm not exactly sure where to drill. Can anyone help me out. I can't find a pic anywhere. I'm thinking on the inside, about 1/2" below the top just ahead of the starter....any help or a pic woukd be appreciated.

Just wanted to ask, have you looked for a primary vent on your 05? During 2006 they started installing primary vents and some of the 05's & 06 had a Retro fit to some of the older models. If you had one it would be on the backside of the inner primary.

My 05 Ridgeback has a vent.
From the left side, place your hand on the top of the primary at the middle. Slide your fingers down behind the inner primary a few inches and move your hand left & right. That's where mine is.

I removed my starter and it did not have one. I ordered it and just need to know where to place it before I put it back together. I think it'll be easier with the battery compartment out. Much appreciate the help!

Thanks for all the help! Finally warmed up enough to get in the shed and work on my BD. I reinstalled the rebuilt starter. I drained the primary and pulled the outer cover. I drilled, tapped and installed the vent then replaced the outer primary gasket and inspection plate gasket with the paper one. I did not reinstall the o-ring gaskets. My question is....Is there a certain pattern to tighten the outer primary cover? I searched and can't find it. I found them for Harleys but not BD. Thanks for any help....
