Rear master cylinder

Trying to get the guts out of the rear master cylinder on a 2004 big dog the plastic piece in there does it screw out or pull out thanks

There is a washer behind the c-clip that can get stuck in the grove the clip sits in. Just wiggle it around a little and the spring pressure should allow the piston to pop out.
