I just found out that Big Dog FINALLY has an easy clutch system. I tried to find one a couple of years ago after hand surgery, but there wasnt anything out there. Does anyone have one of these, or has anyone heard if they are good and reliable?

Never heard of it, but if you go to a softer spring. The clutch will be like butter, ut then you might notget much of a feeling for it. I know on the older HD type clutches you can do it. I changed mine out to a heavy spring because the med was too soft for me. I like to feel the clutch

The problem with changing out the clutch springs is clutch grab.

I would just get the bdm setup... 25% less pull effort is what they advertise

My 2005 pulls real soft. I can pull it in with one finger? Where does this easy pull get installed so I can look and see if mine had it from the factory? I was told after I bought my 2004 Ridge that the 05 bikes were going to come with a soft pull clutch, the dealer actually had 3-4 BDM packaged kits hanging on the wall of soft pull clutch kits. When I got my 2005 Ridge, it came with a soft pull and the dealer said that was weird because BDM said that they were not going to offer them and all the 2005 bikes that they had gotten in had a harder clutch pull to them.

I had a White Bros easy pull clutch in my 03 Mastiff. It worked great but there wasn't one made for the new RSD till now.

It's just a simple leverage device that goes in at the end of the clutch cable inside the tranny case on the LSD. It doesn't affect the clutch itself.
Here is a pic of the LSD version.
Don't know how the new version goes in the cover of the RSD as there is not much room in there not to mention that the balls and ramp have a cover on them. Will be interesting to see how it works.

easier pull would be nice

Good idea Rowdy ... I am in the market for something to reduce the clutch effort. The dog is much harder than my HD Softtail was so maybe someone can help!

The kit is what Big Dog are putting on 08 models as standard, it consists of new clutch plates, spring, inner and outer ball ramp and instructions.

I checked the Big Dog main website last night, and saw where they offer an easy clutch for the Big Dog motorcycles. It didnt have a picture of it or a price. This must be a new deal, because like I said earlier, I was looking for something to make the clutch easier because of my hand surgery. My hand is a lot stronger now, but like others have said, when you are riding in town, with a lot of traffic and stop lights, its a killer on the digits. Theres one intersection in the town I live in, thats by my house that is "very' uphill" and its a 4 way stop sign instead of traffic lights. when its around quitting time, I have 10 to 15 cars ahead of me, did I say "very uphill", and I am yanking my clutch (no puns please) back and forth and it kills me. This will be a "must buy" for me anyway, but I would like you guys to buy it first, and tell me if it works good!!!!! Be sure to check out the Big Dog website for other stuff they have now, which is about time. They have some clear stuff you can put on your gas tank and rear fender to keep scratches at bay. For guys with the passenger cushion, forgot what ya call it, this would be great. No scratches on the paint. They also have some of this clear stuff to put around your gas cap. What I want know, is , is it permanent, and if you decide to remove it, what kind of problems will that be? And, LDO, I'm not sure what "rep" means, but mine is ZERO, and I'm tired of that shit!!!! At least give me a "1".

Thanks Oscar for my first "rep" point. Still dont know what that is, but I do feel better. I figure I better enjoy my "rep" point while I can, because LDO hates me and will soon take it away! Thanks again.

Oh, it was all in fun with LDO. Right LDO? He's great guy and I have a lot of respect for him (that should be worth a rep point).

Don't feel bad, I have no "rep" either. Soon it will be an "in" thing to be "repless" and we'll be cool! :loony:

Had you posted this technical type thread in the ummmm....TECHNICAL section, rep points would have been flowin!!

Now, I've got to move this thing where it belongs!!

Instead, I gave you 'props' (rep points) on the ASS CHECK thread...

I was at the big dog dealership today and asked about the easy clutch. they had never heard of a big dog easy clutch, so they called big dog, and learned they did have one now. If fact, we both went outside and tried a new K-9 that had the easy clutch, and I swear guys, it was night and day compared to our clutches. I guess the easy clutch was so new, they didnt know they offered them. I just thought is was kinda weird that they didnt know the new ones had them, and they were parked in their parking lot. Anyway , I ordered one, and they were $220.00. this will be the best 200 dollars I've ever spent. You HAVE to go by your dealership and try it out.
