We both HAD clean records, and the cop was amazed we were so far from home, riding these trailer queens, had camping gear, a chair strapped on, and before we went on our way there was a second trooper on scene and I got a warning that my plates were previously on a stolen bike and I may get a felony stop by a local cop thinking he caught a big time bike theif. It was Rays steller Naval carreer that helped us out of this jam.
JUST moments before the trooper came over the hill we had been doing well over 100 in this 55 zone (passing a series of jammed up truckers on a grade). It felt like a 100mph zone, and there was not a spd sign within a mile, so it was somewhat ok.
In my defense though, I was just trying to keep up with Ray, the Legend.
I am somewhat sticking to that story!
