Restrictor plates

I want to look if I still have the restrictor plates in the intake manifold. What are the non-restrictive plates called for ordering new ones please? Is there any specific size etc I need to know.

Many thanks

Lee my bike had the "E" Carb with the restrctors and a gasket/shim combo to make up the difference in the manifold and the taller cyl heads! If you remove the carb you may be able to look in the manifold with a small mirror to see if they are in place. When my exhaust was changed and the restrctors were removed the dealer used new intake gaskets with the old gasket/shim combo. If you have the "G" carb I don't beleive there are any restrictors ?

Thanks V.

Lee, all 05's to my knowledge had restrictor plates. You can remove them but you need the spacers to make up the difference in clearance. You can try to go without them but you will have sealing problems. Or you can order a standard full size manifold.
Here is a pic of the restrictor plate under a spacer plate. And the spacer plate next to it. You may find that they have already been removed but if not get WB Cycles (Nelson) here to order you a set of the spacers.

thank you gentlemen - my carb had already been changed over to the G before I bought it so I should imagine the restrictors have already been removed

Seatmaker - I'm guessing (again) that due to the increased airflow you would have to up your jet sizes

Lee, yes you will have to rejet. Big difference in size of opening!

Seatmaker, look at the left side manifold bolt that is open ended and will be able to determine if they are there or not.
In my pic you reposted the left side spacer is on top of the restictor plate and the right side is just the spacer by itself. If you don't replace the restictor plates with the spacers you WILL have sealing problems eventually!!

Seat... if you've owned it from day one and haven't pulled them... they're there!

so you can see if they are there without removing or loosening the manifold? if yes what exactly are we looking for? Ray, you have probably said this in your post but I don't really follow as it looks to me as though the restrictor part will be inside the manifold - i.e. not visible until you remove or loosen it up

Lee, here is the spacer in place. It's in between the manifold and head. If you look closely you may be able to see from the left side if there is a spacer or restrictor plate in place.

But I don't think, Ray correct me if I'm wrong, you will be able to see it without taking it all apart. You will see the metal in there but you won't know which one it is without looking at the opening.

This hasn't seen day light for a while, let's see what I can learn! Are the restrictor plates still in use today? And do you suppose they'd be in my 07 K9 from the factory?

Only 05's had them with the "E" carb.

Searching and found this old thread . . . I'm in need of spacers to replace my restrictor plates. Since I can't get in touch with Nelson, who else has the spacers?

If you can't find the replacement plates then have the ones you have bored out. I have my old set if you want them to experiment with.
