How to replace headlight

I am trying to replace the headlight on my 2002 boxer....having trouble getting to the bulb...can anyone help?

cant get trim ring off!! any ideas thanks
Did you remove the set screws? Soak it with some WD-40 or similar. Then use some rubber gloves. Replace it with anti-siege in the threads. Lots of bug juice in there!!! :D

I CLEAN MY OUTER RINGS WITH ALCHOL,THEN PUT 2 STRANDS OF DOUBLE SIDED TAPE ON THE OUTER RING,AND TURN IT AND MINE CAME OFF,I GOT THE DOUBLE SIDED TAPE IDEA FROM SOMEONE ELSE ON THIS BOARD

great I will try that its really stuck!! going to soak over night in w-d again if that and the rubber gloves dont work I will try the tape thanks LOVE THIS SITE

still no luck with rubber gloves two sided tape w-d 40 any other ideas thanks shouldnt be this hard to change a headlight!!!!

Your going to have to work at it. Lots of bug juice dried up in there. Could be the previous owner cross threaded it.
Make sure you removed the set screws in the bottom. There is two one for the beauty ring and the other is for the inner mounting ring.
Keep working at it and you'll get it.

HELP OK after four days got the dam headlight apart!!!!!!!!thanks for everyones help!! replaced bulb but still have no low beam tried two bulbs anybody know why thanks

Then trace the wire back to the main harness between or under the seat. You may likely have a grounded wire. :2thumbs:
