Hi All, I was riding around having a great day then.............................................. ........lol I pull over for a smoke and turn the bike off. I go to start it a lil later and when i turn the key NOTHING. So long story short a HD mechanic comes over and brings his meter. After we try everything he says he thinks its the module. It has a brand new battery in it. Everything is dead but he did things with his meter to show me that he thinks that is the problem. Does anyone know how much to fix. Does it have to come from Big Dog or can you get it at a harley dealership? How easy to swap out? ect ect........ so after a 6 hour stop with a ton of poeple helping and a big as fuck tow bill and a long night waiting for my wife to come get me ( She was at the Twins game that went into 15 FUCKING innings ) that took me till now to get home. Thanks to Old Hippy for helpling me on the phone lol Im going to bed im sure i wont be able to get one till monday now so my dream bike that i JUST bought 2 weeks ago sits in the garage over the 4th weekend lol Any help with mu 2004 Big Dog Pitbull would be great. Thanks Guy's

NOT....a good start to this holiday weekend.! Kevin, good luck getting the scoot back on the road. All the techno gurus must be out of town and when they return, someone will figure out your problem. Go back and mentally reinstall that battery, making sure you got everything reconnected and ya didn't pinch any wires or pull something loose. Take that new battery out and put it on a slow charger and see it it still takes a charge. If so, reinstall it and try again. When you get it up and running, put a meter on the battery and see if the charging system is working. I think the battery should show around 14 volts when running..!! Sounds like you ran (your ride) all on battery power till it puked. Just double check everything..!!

Happy 4th..

Mike

Yep done all that and we think it might be the thunderheart. I reposted here cause i thought i might get a few more responses on general. Have a safe weekend everybody.

I deleted the dupe thread and made sure it's in the help wanted section.

posting multiple threads doesn't really do anything as most folks won't reply in multiple places and it just clutters up the board.

The majority just click on New Posts and if they do, your thread will pop up regardless of the section it is in.:2thumbs:

good luck with your repair.

I didn't know you were running the Thunderheart. Someone will be able to answer your questions.!!

You got good voltage at the battery?

How old is your battery?

I would leave it on the charger for a while and see what happens.

my 03 Mastiff did the same thing (after a long ride) and it ended up being the voltage regulator. Seems like when summer hits, everybody has VR probls.

Good luck & keep us posted.

Ok, looks like my EHC is out. It was replaced about 1000 miles ago but that was in 06 the guy didnt ride much lol. I called BD and they said it has been 3 years even though it has only beed 1000 miles they cant replace it. I read the other night about an after marcket deal you can get to replace the EHC am i correct? If there is such a thing that will work with my thunderheart that would be great. Any help or options would be great. I hate to drop 610.00 on a new EHC and have no warranty after i buy it then have it go out again. Well i am going to go out in the garage and sit on it and make noises like i am riding around cause i just bought it two weeks ago and im getting something out of this lol. Thanks Kevin

Before you order a new EHC, charge the battery back up and try starting the bike up. If it starts check the voltage at the battery, should be 1 to 1 1/2 volts above the battery voltage before the bike was started. You should have a red led light come on the ignition module when you hit the run button with ignition switch on.
