Hey guys. I know you get tired of seeing me on here but being a new double dog owner, you'll just have to get over it. One day I may be able to help you. The wife's '03 Mastiff tends to "die" after it warms up and she stops. I noticed that when you put the bike in gear, it starts "creeping" and pulls the RPM's down. I made sure she was pulling a full clutch with the cable adjustment mounted to the front part of the frame but it still creeps when you put it in gear. It's also very hard to get it into neutral while the motor is running. I feel sure these are related. I'm sure you "old" dog owners can tell me where this can be adjusted. As always, your help is greatly appreciated. And you married old dogs know if the wife ain't happy, I get calluses. :job: Thanks

Adjust your clutch pushrod.

Do a search with the search function and you will probably find a lot posts exactly like yours and comments exactly like mine.

Yeah take the bike out and warm it up then readjust your clutch. Its out of adjustment. If its creaping that much with the level pulled in.

Thanks guys. I do recall reading someone's quote that says "Search before asking". I'll buy you a beer next time you're in the Big Easy.

It's an 03!

If it is a 2005, MORE than likely it is a broken clutch carrier. There was a dealer notification on those and a new updated Carrier to replace it in 2006. Those are the signs if you can't adjust it out.

Here is more info:

And if you decide to buy the Replacement Bandit Clutch kit with carrier, here is a How-To:

Hey guys, I follewed the "how to" for adjusting the clutch. Each time after the adjustment, I would crank up, put the bike in gear and it would still creep. Finally, I made the adjustment, took the bike for a spin around the yard and when I stopped and checked it, no more creeping. Not sure why, but a short drive and shifting of gears seemed to get the clutch adjustment right. Is this common knowledge that was not mentioned in the "how to"? Anyway, thanks for the help and the easy to follow "how to" with pictures. :2thumbs:

I adjust mine warm...(Not Hot) It might not be right but I adjusted mine 3 times cold and it was not right after it warms up. It doesnt take much these days to over heat the bike here 103 today. Its like riding in an oven but thats not stopping this turkey from riding

Not that familiar with pre-05's but some other things that will make it creep is to much primary oil or the wrong viscosity or not enough oil in the primary.:zz2cents:

when you adjust the clutch you should pull and release the lever 4 or 5 times to get it set up right before setting off

Sounds like primary fluid is the culprit. When cold it pulls due to thick viscosity and after warming up it loosens up due to viscosity thinning.

Mine was the same. Changed primary to Red Line Primary Syn Oil and did some adjustments and also changed out hemi's as mine were sticking. Shifts nice and easy to find neutral on the run.-----MHO
