Well I've been havn intermittrnt trouble with bike stopn cold while drivn. When this happens, the runin lights go out, no horn, no blinkers. Normally a quick switch on and off with the key gets it back alive. I thought I take it out today with multimeter n tools and let it happen again. It did, but different. It won't reset with a flick of the key. I have fluctuating voltage out of 3 pin harness on ignition, low voltage, 1 to 2. This causes the nuetral and oil lights to flickr at the same speed. It won't start as the starter fluctuates at that spped to, same with horn, blinkers etc. Battry is strong. Any thoughts while I'm standing here on the side of the road?

Chuch, did you test your battery while pressing the start button? You may have a battery that is on it's last leg. It should hold around 10 volts if it's good while pressing the start button.

i had the battery load tested at advanced auto two day ago so i think its fine. the bikes failed twice today. This most recent time is the one the tow truck was needed for. The lights were fluctuting, horn, blinkers, starter etc all had power twice a second and tried to work but couldn't. The first failure today one was like many of the others. Running down the road and the bike just quite running. I'd turn the key on and off and it would let me try to start it, but it normally wouldn't fire. It would take 10 seconds to 10 mins before it'd start to fire again, then off I'd go. I hate to throw money at wire plus solution if that isn't it. I wanted to see if it was a ignition or something. I have fairly sure it isn't a bad off run switch because when that goes off, the running lights stay on. For my problem, the running lights go out. I have 117cc 04 chopper.

Is the main plug into the EHC "FULL" of dielectric grease?

It should be full, if not water may have gotten in and under vibration you may be getting bad connection.

The red light on the ignition module is supposed to flash with the rpm while running, but not for certain if it should be on solid with the key on or not.

Ignition module will only flash while the motor is turning over -- it's detecting the signal from the cam sensor.

One possibility is that cam sensor took a shit -- rare but it happens.

Other is that the ignition module is being grounded out either in the lines to the cam sensor or the lines to the EHC.

See, you got options for the problem!

Save yourself some time and have your ehc checked at dealer. I chased ghosts for a couple of weeks before changing mine out. The 04 ehc will go out sooner or later, thats my uneducated opinion. Good luck

In searching the site, I don't see any How To's on checking the cam sensor on a 04 117cc. Has anyone created one or can anyone explain how. I have the panel off the right side now and see it and see the wires running under the frame.
