Is this what tranny looks like are the splits in the gears normal? The middle shift fork does move side to side is this correct? See pic #2 &#3. Everything look ok and tight. I am still hearing what sounds like the chain hitting the primary in 5th and 6th. I have tightened the chain to the 5/8" slack. I have torn everything down to check for any signs of wear? I am at whits end WTF! Anybody have the same sound of like the chain hitting the primary inner. Please help!!!!

Gears look good, looking at the pics. Did you end up checking the shift forks and shift fork rod? You replaced the rod right? It is only $5 retail. If you feel it is the chain, did you put that shim back in onto the mainshaft for the clutch?

I did order a new seal and shim from the dealer shim was the last one they had. I didn't replace the rod yet. Would that cause this issue. Should I put in the shim again when it comes in. Does that main shaft seal just pull off the main shaft. I don't want to damadge any more of the seal or bearings by pulling it off. The shim seems to be in the old seal on main shaft and seated ok in the main seal. Would the clutch hub that rests against the inner primary flex at all. I was wondering due to hitting the inner primary in the higher gears. Just a thought? I now can break down the primary inner and outer and get to the trans in less than an hour DAMN Getting tried of tearing down and putting on again:Maybe my bike is the test model for some good threads on this site so someone that has the same issue can fix it right away if I can ever figure it out. confused:

OK I replaced the main shaft seal and another shim but did it correct this time. I followed the steps on the chain. I took it for a ride and got the same thing. OK on the shift rod. can it be taken out form the right side? So I dont have to take off the primary. The sound I am hearing now is not the same sound of what I was hearing before this is more like a chain rubbing or hitting. I am wondering if it might be a shift fork or bent rod. Becasue it does the noise in 5 and 6th gear.Maybe it is the shift fork on the countershaft side I saw that the three shift forks 2 on the main and 1 on the countershaft side. Man this is getting tiredsome. Can anybody here have any advise or suggestions. PLEASE AND THANKS!

Well I have come to the place that looks like I will have to send it to Baker. They said that the countershaft has walked over and needs a special tool to correct the countershaft and any other issues going on with the tranny. Chit@%*!! now I have to take it out of the bike and send to them.:spank::angry::angry::angry::angry::bang::bang::rant::rant::rant::(:(:(:(

Damn Phat,
I wish I could help but you're way over my head and I hope I never have to go into the same thing you did. I've had my share of shit, but thankfully, it's all been top end. Still not cheap, but less moving parts. All I can say is good luck. Wish it was more.:cheers:

I have all the Baker tools needed to rebuild that transmission. Send it to me if you want. I can take it all the way apart and see what is going on with it. Baker will probably charge you too much and not replace everything it may need.
